Tim Merkel
Tim has been a performing acoustic guitarist/songwriter since the 70′s and was classically trained at the Chicago Musical College-Roosevelt University, but was drawn to the folk roots of Chicago’s Old Town live music venues. Tim's influencers include Dylan, Taylor, Young, Lightfoot, Gorka, Mitchell, Prine and many others.
Tim appreciates the attentive, small audience of a house concert and also performs at open mics, breweries, coffeehouses, wine bars, festivals, Meet-Ups, restaurants, art openings and art shops.
Tim's Story
As a boy, Tim was struck by the imagery & characters of Middle Earth in JRR Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. Treebeard, the old “Ent” (Trees enlivened by elf spirits), is his favorite character.
Now living in Colorado and inspired by the mountains, trees and forests provide solace. Tim donates some of his music profits to reforestation. He also named his Sound Production company, TreebeardSound Productions, for this namesake.
